The State Tournament paired Summit up with long time Suburban Conference nemesis Caldwell. On the first series the Caldwell defense looked strong and Summit went three and out. Kyre Negron's good punt was returned 29 yards to Summit's 26 yard line. The fans who went back to the days of the Suburban Conference were saying "Oh, no." But Caldwell obliged by coughing up the ball on the very first play. This time Summit drove 60 yards in ten plays to score. The drive was keyed by a 20 yard run by Ryan Bringewatt and a 30 yard reception by Luke Stephens. The always reliable AJ Iarussi pounded it in from the 1 yard line. Of course, Mike Badgley kicked the first of his 4 PATs. On the following series Caldwell was forced to punt from their 11 yardline. It was a weak punt that gave Summit the ball on the Caldwell 38. Summit managed a first down by the running of Bringewatt and Iarussi. But then things stalled and Summit took advantage of Badgley's strong foot to record a 38 yard field goal. Summit ended the quarter up 10-0.

The 2nd quarter began badly when Summit took a Caldwell punt and fumbled during the return. Caldwell took possession on Summit's 25 yard line. Caldwell took advantage of the momentum shift and scored in five plays to close to 10-7. Late in the half Summit mounted a drive from their 34. Three first downs later Summit was on the Caldwell 23. Again the drive bogged down and Badgley scored a 31 yard field goal with :03 on the clock to help Summit take a somewhat tenuous 13-7 lead into the locker room.

Summit kicked off to Caldwell to start the 2nd half and forced them to punt. Summit took over on their 48 yard line. They went the 52 yards in 6 plays with Iarussi covering 38 yards on three carries and a Bringewatt to Negron pass going for 12 yards. Iarussi scored from 5 yards out to give Summit some breathing room at 20-7. The 4th quarter opened with Summit driving from their 49 to score and give Summit a 27-7 lead with about 10 minutes left. The drive was keyed by a 41 yard scamper by Iarussi who also covered the last 12 yards in two rushes to really put the game out of reach. Caldwell would score at the 7:40 mark but that was answered by a 56 yard pass play from Bringewatt to Negron.

Iarussi led the rushing with 157 yards in 21 carries. Negron led the receiving corp with 101 yards in 4 receptions. Yet again Stefano Stadlinger anchored the defense with 10 tackles, caused a fumble and broke up 3 passes.

Summit continues the Suburban Conference nostalgia trip when it meet Madison in December for the Sectional Championship.
