Summit got out played in almost every aspect of the game by a very good Madison team. You would have to go back to 1978 for anything comparable at the hands of Madison. That year Madison beat Summit 41-14.

Summit never was able to get its running game going and that put a lot of pressure on the passing game. However, Madison's pass rush was almost unbearable. At times it seemed that the rushers almost got to Ryan Bringewatt before the ball did. At one stage in the 1st quarter Bringewatt was sacked on four consecutive attempts, for a total loss of 33 yards. About the only bright spot came after Madison had established a 19-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. An 11 yard run by AJ Iarussi was followed by a 20 pass to Luke Stephens. That put the ball on the Madison 40. A great catch by Kyre Negron gained 35 yards to the 5. Negron ran in for the TD on the next play and Mike Badgley kicked the extra. point. That gave some hope to the Summit fans. It was quickly squelched when when Madison returned the squib kickoff to Summit's 25. Five plays later Madison scored and that was pretty much the ball game.

In spite of this final loss, it was a great season for Summit football, 11-1 is quite exceptional. The Summit seniors leave us with an amazing 32 - 2 record for their three varsity years .
