Finally the ball bounced Summit's way in the final minutes of the game. Summit had a slow start and fell behind 16-9 in the first quarter. Summit rallied behind Ryan Sweeney's 10 first half points to pull to within 2 points at 23-21 at the half. Going into the 4th quarter the Hilltoppers found themselves down by 4 points. As the clock wound down Summit was still down by by 2 points. With only 2.7 seconds left in the game Ba'Shawen Micken's drained a 3-pointer to take the lead. The fans were still nervous since in three previous games Summit had lost the game after being ahead with only a hand full of seconds left.
Cranford threw a long pass down court, but it hit the ceiling and the ball was turned back to Summit. Cranford then fouled before Summit could inbound the ball to preserve the 2.7 seconds. Both foul shots were missed so Cranford had one more chance. A long pass down court couldn't be handled and the game was over.
Mickens led Summit with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Sweeney had his best offensive game of the season with 15 points.
