After leading almost the entire game, Summit let this one get away in the final 15 seconds of regulation. Ba'Shawn Mickens sank 2 free throws to give Summit a 4 point lead with only 15 seconds left on the clock. The Summit fans heaved a sigh of relief after a very hard fought game. However, Scotch Plains raced down and scored an almost uncontested layup to reduce the lead to 2 points with 9 seconds still left. What followed over the next 7 seconds was a disaster for Summit . On three consecutive occasions Summit seemed to have possession of the ball, and victory. But each time very questionable calls gave the ball back to Scotch Plains and they eventually tied the game at 44. In the first overtime Summit scored to go up by 2, but Scotch Plains answered. A free throw made it 47-46, but Scotch Plains knotted the score again, and the game went to a second overtime. Scotch Plains scored the first 6 point of the 2nd overtime and , in spite Micken's 8 points, hit their free throws down the stretch to gain the victory.
