The undersized court at St. Mary worked to the advantage of their high pressure defefense. They jumped to a quick lead and Summit was playing catchup all night. Early in the 4th quarter Ba'Shawn Mickens was caught in a tangle of players and went down hard. He lay on the court for some time. When the local emergency squad arrived it was decided to take him to the nearby hospital for a checkup. Mickens left the court under his own power. His 17 points where Summit's high for the night.

It wasn't a good shooting night for Summit who hit only 32% from field and made only 10 of their 23 free throws. Mickens and Jon Mendez were the top rebounders with 8 each.
