Summit opened its season with an away game at Union Catholic. The new Hilltopper edition stayed within striking distance through the first half but a 15-9 third quarter left Summit facing an 11 point disadvantage entering the final eight minutes. Summit held their own in the 4th quarter, but was never able to gain any ground.
Sophomore Robby Walsh led all scorers with 12 points and pulled down a game high 6 rebounds. Last years scoring leader, Ba'Shawn Mickens, saw limited action as he is recovering from an injury.
