Summit showed how much they have improved since an opening season loss to Union Catholic by 13 points. The Hilltoppers played Union Catholic even throughout the game. The score was 40-39 , in favor of Union Catholic, starting the 4th quarter. The score remained close throughout the quarter until, with 56 seconds remaining, UC score to open a 54-51 lead.
Summit tried desperatly get off a 3-pointer but couldn't. However, Levi Glick was able to drive for a field goal to get within 1 point. Summit got one more chance when it got the ball back with 12 seconds left on the clock. UC defenders put pressure Summit's leading scorers. That allowed Scott Meagher to get free in the corner. His shot bounced off the rim, but he followed his shot, got the rebound and got off a second shot as the buzzer sounded. It went cleanly through the net and Summit went nuts. The team mobbed Meagher and the fans left with big smiles on their faces.
Sophomore Robby Walsh had a great game. He was a major presence in the paint, hauling down a season high 15 rebounds and scoring 8 points. His importance was huge. Ryan Sweeney, the other starting Sophomore, led the Summit scoring with 15 points.
