Summit (the #3 seed) and Hillside (the #2 seed) collided before probably the biggest Hilltopper crowd of the season. It was a slam bang game from the beginning. For the game, players went to the foul line 56 times and scored 33 points.

The lead repeatedly changed hands. Hillside led by 1 at the end of the 1st quarter, but Summit tied the score at the half. Kelly Osmulski scored 13 of her 15 points in the 1st half to help keep Summit in the game.

Summit came out in the 3rd quarter with a strong defense that limited Hillside to only two field goals compared to a pair of treys by Kate Martino, two FGs by Nicole Johnson and one FG by Amanda Murphy. However, Hillside added 5 points from the foul line versus none by Summit. The result was that Summit started the 4th quarter with a 37-34 lead.

That lead evaporated when Hillside scored the first 4 points to go ahead 38-37. Two free throws by Olivia Galuppo and one by Hillside knotted the score. Baskets by Anna Baumeister and Johnson gave Summit a lead that that they never relinquished. Field goals by Osmulski and Kate Martino built the lead to 6 points. Martino drew a foul on the basket. But the foul drew blood on her leg. To everyone's distress Summit's best free throw shooter was not allowed to stay in the game to take the free throw. Ali Hosley entered to take the free throw. She calmly drained the shot and Summit was up by 7 points with less than 2 minutes left. However, Hillside scored the next two FGs and with 53 seconds left the lead was only three. In the final 53 seconds, 4 free throws by Martino and 4 more by Johnson put the game away.

Summit will meet Point Pleasant, who upset Gov. Livingston (the #1 seed), in the Sectional Final.
