Through 3 1/3 innings this was dandy pitchers duel between a pair of lefties. Shawn Guida had struck out 5 in the 1st three innings and had a runner in 1st with one out. What followed was an infield error on four of the next 5 batters and ultimately seven unearned runs crossed the plate. In the next inning one more unearned run scored while Rob Carbone was pitching in relief. Justin Vitti pitched the final inning without alllowing a run inspite of 2 more Summit errors.
Even if these errors hadn't occured, Summit might still have lost the game since Bernards pitched a 2 hit shutout.
