Both Summit and Johnson scored 3 runs in the first two inning. However, Johnson added four more runs, two of them unearned, in the bottom of the 3rd inning. That established a 7-3 Johnson lead that would hold until the 7th inning. As it turned out 5 of those 7 runs were scored by players who had gotten on base via walks.
Cam Fuoti was that starter and covered the first 2 2/3 innings. He was relieved by his brother Alec Fuoti who pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings. John Flogel pitched the final scoreless inning. As Summit entered the top of the 7th they needed 4 runs to tie things up. Tanner Fulton led off by getting on via an error. Sean Guida hit into a fielder's choice, erasing Fulton. Flogel and Cam Fuoti singled and the bases were loaded with only one out. Andrew Aguilara was walked to force in one run. A fielders choice by David Berardi scored the second run to close the gap to 2 runs. Sadly, an infield out ended the rally.
The UCT game at Union Catholic is currently set for 1:00 pm on Saturday.
