(Write up by Jim Abbott) Playing under the lights in front of a large crowd at the Summit High School turf field, the Hilltoppers came back from a 9-3 fifth inning deficit to beat rival New Providence 10-9, scoring twice with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning for a walk-off victory. Justin Vitti's fourth hit of the game drove in the winning run, clearing the Summit bench in celebration.

Winning pitcher Andrew Aguilera entered in the 6th inning and threw two shutout frames to allow the Summit offense to complete the comeback. New Providence built its lead with a flurry of hits that produced one run in the second inning and four more in the 3`d. Summit started its comeback with two runs in the bottom of the 3rd on a two-out single by Vitti followed by Tanner Fulton's RBI double over the left fielder's head and an RBI single by Sean Guida, but New Providence kept pouring it on with 3 runs in the 4th inning.

Cam Fuoti, who was 4 for 4 on the night, singled to lead off the bottom of the 4th and scored on Mike Bredahl's infield out. New Providence tacked on one run in the top of the 5th to make the score 9-3. Summit stormed back in the bottom of the inning with 4 runs. Vitti led off with a single and the bases were then loaded when Fulton walked and Guida was hit by a pitch. Johnny Flogel drove in a run with an infield out and Fuoti cleared the bases with a towering triple over the right fielder's head, later scoring on Aguilera's sacrifice fly. That made the score 9-7.

New Providence went down in the 6th inning as a result of some sterling defense by Summit, with a leadoff single erased by a short-to-second-to-first (Fuoti to Andrew George to Guida) double play, and the final out coming on a WebGem by center fielder Nick Abbott who made a running and diving catch of a sinking line drive. Abbott then doubled down the right field line in the bottom of the 6th and scored on a Vitti single to make it a one-run deficit.

Summit's fans (swelled by Summit Junior Baseball's offer of free hot dogs from Mr. Chi to all youth ballplayers wearing their SJBB shirts to watch the game) chanted for a rally in the bottom of the 7th and final inning and the team responded. Fuoti hit a leadoff single off the New Providence closer, and then made a daring base running play, advancing from first to third on a sacrifice bunt by Aguilera. After a strikeout left Summit one out from defeat, Kyle Brown ripped a double to left centerfield to tie the score. Abbott was intentionally walked to set up a force play, but Vitti won the game for the Hilltoppers when he pulled one into left field off the glove of New Providence's third baseman. A total team effort by Summit for an exciting walk-off victory.
