Summit traveled to the Yankee's sparkling minor league stadium in Staten Island for a game with our old Iron Hills opponent Parsippany. The setting seamed to invest the game with extra importance compared to a typical regular season game. Rob Carbone drew the starting assigment. He pitched a beautiful game, allowing only 3 hits and 1 run over the 5 innings he pitched. His Win took his record to 4-1 and put his ERA at 1.47, the teams best among the starters. John Floegel pitched the 6th and Eric Kaufman handled the 7th. Neither allowed a run.
But it wasn't just the pitching. Summit unloaded with 6 runs on 12 hits. Nick Abbott started things in the first inning with a lead off single. stole 2nd and scored on on a single by Sean Guida. The score remained 1-0 until the 4th inning. Guida stroked a one out single and moved to 2nd on a ground out. He scored Summit's second run when Andrew Aguilera singled.
Summit broke things open in the 5th with 4 runs. Andrew George singled to start the inning. The speedy Abbott laid down a perfect bunt down the first base line and beat the throw to first. A big double by Justin Vitti scored both George and Abbott. Tanner Fulton singled to drive in Vitti and give Summit a 5-1 lead. Aguilera got his 2nd single of the game with 2 outs to drive in Fulton.
