Rob Carbone pitched 5 strong innings of shutout ball, Scattering four hits and striking out four. Andrew Aguilara took over in relief for the final 2 innings.
After two scoreless innings Summit scored twice in the 3rd. Nick Abbott led off by being hit by the pitcher and quickly stole 2nd. A ground out moved him to 3rd and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Tanner Fulton. John Flogel singled and took 2nd on an error, moved to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball.
The hilltoppers scored two more in 4th. Aguilara got things started with a single and that was followed by back-to-back triples by Pacilio and Mike Bredahl. One more run was added in the 5th when Andrew George was safe on a error and eventually was driven in by Flogel's single.
Plainfield loaded the bases in the bottom of the 6th with one out, but Aguilara rose to the occasion and struck out the next two batters. Plainfield would load the bases again in the 7th, after scoring one run, but a fly ball to short right and a strikeout ended the threat.
