Summit scored on its first possession when Tyler Carbone hit Mike Badgley who went 73 yards for the score and the extra point. At the start of the 2nd quarter a Summit drive stalled and Badgley kicked a 30 yard field goal to give Summit a 10-0 lead. For the rest of the half Johnson started to came alive and their running game began to dominate the game. While Summit's passing and rushing game was sputtering. However, the half ended with Summit ahead 10-0.

Beginning the 3rd quarter Johnson intercepted a Carbone pass at the Summit 42 and scored 6 plays later. They missed the extra point, but the score was 10-6. At the end of the 3rd quarter Johnson recovered a Summit fumble on the Summit 35 yardline.and scored 8 plays later. The PAT was good and suddenly Johnson held a 13-10 lead. On the following kickoff Badgley returned the ball to the Johnson 47 yard line. An 18 yard pass to Badgley and a 15 yard penalty provided Summit a first down at the 17. but the drive was halted by an interception at the Johnson 15 and time was running out. The Summit defense rose to the occasion and on 3rd down Johnson kicked a perfect quick-kick that rolled dead 80 yards away on the Summit 2 yard line.

Summit was 98 yards away and about 3 and a half minutes left on the clock Needless to say ther situation was bleak since both the passing and running game was almost on life support. On 3rd and 7 Tyler Carbone connected again with Badgley for a first down to keep hopes alive. At this point AJ Iarussi really turned up the heat. He carried the ball 5 times for 68 yards and, aided by a 9 yard run by Kyre Negron, delivered a first and ten at the Johnson 13. Badgley ran to the 2, and scored on the next play. With 1:11 remaining on the clock Summit was back on top 17-13. Johnson's efforts came to an end when Andrew Oristanio recovered a Johnson fumble. What an exciting finish!!!
