Summit made its third trip to the Sectional finals in the last 4 years and mother nature smiled on the large crowd of Summit fans by calling off the rain and providing a mild December day.

Summit's first two possessions went no where. However, on the 3rd possession Summit drove 82 yards in 9 rushing plays to take a 7-0 lead with 3 minutes left in the quarter. AJ Iarrusi, Kyre Negron and Mike Badgley each carried the ball 3 times with Iarussi going the final 5 yards. That score turned out to be the only points of the first half. Late in the 2nd quarter a blocked punt gave Palisades Park the ball on the Summit 18, but the Hilltopper defense forced a 42 yard field goal attempt that went wide. So the half ended with Summit holding a slim lead.

Summit came out for the 2nd half fired up. They forced a three and out on Palisades Park and then marched for a touchdown, again on 9 rushing plays. This time Badgley covered the final yard for the score and the Summit fans brerathed a little easier with a 14-0 lead. On Palisades Park's next possession they gambled on 4th down and didn't make it, leaving Summit with the ball on Palisade Park's 40 yard line. On the next play Badgley hit Negron on a 38 yard pass that put the ball on 2. From there Iarussi scorred on the next play. With the score now 21-0 the momentum was all on Summit's side. On Summit first possession of the 4th quarter another all rushing drive stalled at the opponents 12 yard line so Badgley kicked a 29 yd field goal, his 7th of the season. Summit scored once more when Badgley intercepted a pass and raced 38 yards for the final score of the game.

AJ Iarussi rushed for 150 yards to bring his team leading total to 1281 yards and his career rushing total 3,321, a new Summit record, breaking the old record held by Torrie Fogg ('92-'94).
