The final score might lead you into thinking this was a cake walk but a glance at the stats would make it clear that it wasn't. On the first possession it appeared that Summit had Roselle stopped at their 17. The punter fumbled the ball in the end zone but picked it up and ran for his life. Unfortunately for Summit, he ran all the way for a Touchdown and Roselle was on top 6-0. On Summit's first possession they drove to a first down on the Roselle 6 yard line but Summit couldn't score. On Summit's next possession the Hilltoppers drove to the Rams 20 and again stalled.. Finally, mid-way through the 2nd quarter Summit finally got on the scoreboard when AJ Iarussi scored from the 3 and Mike Badgley kicked the extra point to give Summit a 7-6 lead.
Summit would score again, with a minute left in the half, on a 54 yard yard drive in which Iarussi carried the ball 4 times and gained 56 yards. He covered the last 12 yards in one play to put Summit up 14-6. Roselle answered by taking the next kickoff and returning it 85 yards to Summit's 10, where Badgley made the saving tackle. Roselle, who had been successful with the pass, still had almost a minute left. On their fist attempt Colm Dougherty stepped in front of the receiver and intercepted the pass to end the half..
Kyre Negron got the 2nd half going for Summit by returning the half kickoff 72 yards to the Roselle 18. Two more Negron runs moved the ball to 3 and Badgley covered the final 3 yards. At this point the Summit fans began to relax, but not for long. Roselle went mostly to its passing game and connected on 3 passes for 74 yards, last pass being a 40 yarder that ended on the Summit 1 yard line. Summit was again saved from a Ram touhdown when their QB fumbled the snap and Gerber Bolanos fell on the ball to end yet another Roselle sure TD. That fumble seemed to take the spirit out of Roselle and they didn't threaten again. Summit would score again in the 3rd quarter on 6 play, 47 yard drive that featured a 26 yard run bt Negron and a 10 yard scoring run by Iarussi
