Summit avenged its earlier loss to Dayton and handed them their first loss of the season. Like their first meeting, this game featured aggressive defense. Both teams had averaged in the mid-60s for the season but were held to the 40s. Summit went up 8-4 in the 1st quarter behind Ba'shawn Mickens' 6 points. That lead grew to 15-8 midway into the 2nd quarter but Dayton outscored Summit 11-1 to fininsh the half on top 19-16.
Dayton had three 3-pointers in the 3rd quarter to help them grow their lead to 4 points going into the 4th quarter. Dayton hit the first FG of the 4th quarter, but Summit answered with two baskets by Robby Walsh, a 3-pointer by Mac Wiesner and a FG by Ryan Sweeney to put Summit in the lead 37-34. After a free throw by Dayton, a Mickens trey, a free throw by Mike Fischetti and a pair of free throws by Sweeney put Summit ahead 43-35 with about one minute left. Summit hit the needed free throws to cement the victory.
Mickens (15 points) and Wiesner (11 points) led the Summit scoring and Walsh pulled down 13 rebounds.
