Madison threw a scare into Summit in the 1st quarter, taking a 13-10 lead by draining the three 3-pointers it threw up and going a perfect 4 for 4 from the foul line. Meanwhile summit took a lot of shots, 16 to be exact, but connecting on only 4 of them. The shooting improved in the 2nd quarter and the defense cooled Madison down, holding them to only 5 points. The half ended with Summit ahead 24-18.
It all came Summit's way in the 3rd quarter led by 8 points by Ryan Sweeney. Summit built the lead to 15 points and was never seriously challenged in spite of the fact Madison knocked down six 3-pointers down the stretch.
Summit generated a lot of fine assists and it showed in the balanced scoring. Summit had three players scoring in double digits, Sweeney (19 points), Ba'Shawn Mickens (17 points) and Robby Walsh (13). Walsh combined his 13 points with 15 rebounds for a "double double".
