Summit opened the season under new Head Coach David White with a big victory over New Providence. Ba'Shawn Mickens had the hot hand in the first quarter with 10 points, Matt Fischetti added 4, Ryan Sweeney 3 and, newcomer to Summit, Mac Weisner 2. Summit built a 19-8 1st quarter lead. The barrage continued in the second quarter as Mickens ended the first half with 18 points. Sweeney got hot in the 3rd quarter and drained 3 consecutive 3-pointers. As a result, Summit entered the 4th quarter with a commanding 21 point lead. New Providence played Summit slightly better than even in the final 8 minutes, but the issue was never in doubt.
Mickens led the offense with 28 points, followed by Sweeney's 14. Robby Walsh (8 points) and Weisner (9 points) both played key roles for the Champion Summit Football team. The Football season didn't end until last weekeend so the two footballers only had 4 days to practice with the team. In spite of that, they both gave strong performances. Walsh led the defense with 11 rebounds.
