Doubles: Guida(1),Fuoti, C(1)
|
Summit took on Cranford, traditionally one the strongest baseball programs in the State, with a hurting pitching staff. In addition, Summit appeared to be looking ahead to the Union County Tournament game against Elizabeth. Summit was held scoreless through the first 4 innings, while Cranford accumulated 10 runs going into the 5th inning. After 2 outs and facing a “mercy” ending, Summit’s bats came alive. John Floegel, pinch hitting, got the rally started with a single. Tanner Fulton worked a walk and Sean Guida doubled to score both players. Cam Fuoti doubled to score Guida and go 3 for 3 at the plate. David Berardi hit a deep shot to left that was mishandled and allowed Fuoti to score the 4th run. Summit didn’t threaten in the final two innings, but the “Mercy” label was avoided.
