Summit traveled to Elizabeth for a 1st round game in the Union County Tournament. Sean Guida was the Hilltoppers starting Pitcher. Summit got off to a bad start, giving up two unearned runs in the first inning on only one hit, but 2 walks and an error. Elizabeth added another run in the 2nd on a lead off walk, another error and a single. Summit cut the lead to 3-1 off a walk to Hunter Miller, a single by Kyle Brown and a sacrifice fly by Tanner Fulton. Sadly, Elizabeth added two more runs in the bottom of the 3rd to build the lead to 5-1.
With Guida’s pitch count already at 70 after 3 innings, Alec Fuoti came on in relief to start the 4th. He would give up one more run over the three innings he would pitch. Allowing only one base runner in the final two innings. Guida and Cam Fuoti drew walks with one out in the 6th and David Berardi singled to drive in Guida an keep Summit's hope alive. But that was all Summit could muster.
