Summit defeated Hillside to successfully defend its Conference Championship, the first back-to-back Championships since the days of Coach Dietz (1991-1992).

After an earlier five inning “Mercy” defeat of Hillside, this meeting was approached with the sense that it would be an easy win. However, through the first four innings, Summit struggled to attain a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately for Hillside, the 5th inning saw a collapse by their pitcher. Summit scored five times as the result four walks, a hit batter, an infield error and one Summit hit (a double by JakeMokuvos).

Summit’s first two runs came in the 2nd inning.when Mike Maldonado led off with double, Mokuvos singled to drive in Maldonado. A wild pitch and a ground out advanced Mokuvos to third. He scored on an infield out. Summit added two more runs in the 6th. Pitch hitter, Tanner Fulton, was walked, A single by Hunter Miller got Fulton to 3rd where he scored on a wild pitch. Miller, who had stolen 2nd and moved to 3rd on the wild pitch, scored on a sacrifice fly by David Meyers
