Summit took on Parsippany in the 3rd annual matchup in The NY Yankee’s minor league stadium in Staten Island. It is always a treat to play and watch a game in this stadium that looks out on the NY skyline. For the third time Summit left the field with a victory.

Summit grabbed an unearned run in the first inning when Sean Guida singled, stole 2nd, went to 3rd on an error and scored on Tanner Fulton’s sacrifice fly. Parsippany tied it up with its own unearned run and took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Summit regained the lead with 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Alec Fuoti and Guida walked to start the inning. Kyle Brown’s bunt moved them to second and third, and both scored on Cam Fuoti's sacrifice fly ball that was dropped by the right fielder.

Summit added to the lead in the 4th. John Floegel started the inning with a single, stole 2nd, went to 3rd on Andrew Aguilera’s single and scored on an infield error. Summit made it a 6-2 game when Kyle Brown had a one out single and scored on a double by Cam Fuoti, walks to Fulton and Flogel moved Cam Fuoti to 3rd. From there Fuoti scored on a balk. Summit’s final run was scored in the 6th. Guida single to start the inning and moved 2nd on an infield error and scored on Cam Fuoti’s single. That established a comfortable 7-2 Summit lead.

However, the lead got considerably less comfortable in the bottom of the 6th. Mike Maldonado took over from Alec Fuoti , who’s pitch count had reached 98. It was a rough start. A walk, a single and another walk loaded the bases with no outs. At this point, Cam Fuoti took over the pitching duties. A pair of singles and a walk resulted in 3 runs before Fuoti found his grove, and struck out 2 of the last 3 batters. That closed the gap to 7-5 with one inning left to play.

Not to worry, Cam Fuoti retired the Parsippany 1-2-3 to preserve the win. This victory put an end to a four game losing streak by the Hilltoppers.

Summit had a gem of a double play in the 5th inning. Parsippany had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. A sharply stroked ball looked like a sure single, but David Berardi made a great stop, quickly flipped the ball to Cam Fuoti who rifled the ball to Mike Maldonado to snuff out the rally.
