Summit carried a 3-1 lead into the final inning. Then, with only 2 more outs to go, the game exploded. Pingry, who through 6 innings had only one unearned run and just 3 hits, exploded for 5 runs. The 5 runs resulted from 5 hits, an error and a balk. Summit had one more at bat but went down 1-2-3.
In both the 2nd and 3rd innings Summit loaded the bases but couldn’t produce a run. Summit did managed 3 runs in 4th. With one out Sean Guida singled , Can Fuoti singled, Tanner Fulton walked, John Floegel and David Berardi singled and Summit was up 3-0. Pingry picked up an unearned run in the 5th and that is the way it stood until the fateful 7th.
Guida pitched a fine game, scattering 4 hits over the 5 innings and striking out 8 along the way. Guida is leading the pitching staff in strike outs and has now struck out 35 batters in the 22 inning he has pitched..
