Hit batters: Brown, K(1)
Summit’s Sean Guida and Rahway’s Tom Burnejko participated in a great pitcher’s duel. Over the first 6 innings each pitcher allowed only 2 hits and one run. Guida had 10 strikeouts to Burnejko’s 9. Entering the 7th Guida had thrown 91 pitches and score was tied 1-1. Rahway’s first batter stroked the first pitch over the left field fence to give Rahway the lead. It turns out that this was the first time this season that anyone had hit a home run at Memorial Field. Andrew Aguilera took over in relief, but when the dust settled Rahway had scored 3 more runs to put the game out of reach.

Rahway scored in the first inning when a walk was followed by double, but was scoreless through the next 6 innnings. Summit was scoreless until the bottom of the 6th. With two outs Guida drew a walk and moved to second on David Berardi’s single. Guida went to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored the tying run on a error by the 2nd baseman.
