Hit batters: Fuoti, C(1)
Summit met the strong Union Catholic team, at Union Catholic. The weather was perfect for baseball and the fans were treated to a terrific pitcher’s duel that eventually ended badly for Summit. Cam Fuoti pitched a superb game allowing only 3 hits and 1 run over the 6 innings that he pitched. The fact that he averaged only 11.3 pitches per inning testifies to how effective he was.

Summit scored first in the top of the 5th inning. With one out Charlie Pacilio singled and Kyle Brown drew a walk. A single by Sam Griffith loaded the bases. Sean Guida sroked a fly ball to right center, but the center fielder made a good play on it for the second out. Cam Fuoti was hit by the pitcher to force the first run of the game and leave the bases loaded. UC stopped the uprising by striking out the next batter, but Summit had taken a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the 6th a pair of doubles gave Union Catholic the tying run. In the top of the 7th Griffith got a 2 out single but a ground out ended the Summit half. Alec Fuoti took over in relief in the 7th inning. The first batter managed a single but was eventually trapped in a run down between 1st and second. Sadly, two errors resulted in the runner, instead of being erased, was safe at 3rd base. On the the next pitch a single scored the winning run.
