This was the type of day Hilltoppers fans were waiting for. Sunny warm weather, a worthy opponent, and good solid baseball. Summit took on regional school Warren Hills and faced their ace on the mound as well as their D1 Vanderbilt bound shortstop in the field. Undaunted Summit countered with starter Andrew Aguilera.

Warren Hill’s first batter got on base via an outfield error and eventually scored on a single two batters later. What followed was as dominant a pitching performance as we have seen this year. Aguilera retired the side in order for the next 4 innings and allowed only an infield single through 6 innings.

Offensively Summit did enough to scratch out hits and runs against Warren Hill's ace. After 2 quick outs in the first Cam Fouti got things started with a crisp single. Tanner Fulton followed that with one of his own. After a pitcher overthrow to first scored Fuoti, John Floegel continued his hot hitting Grounding a ball under the 3rd baseman down the line for a double that scored Fulton and gave Summit a 2-1 lead. Summit managed only 2 more hits until the 5th when they had a chance to blow things open.

With one out Sean Guida walked. Back to back singles by Agulera and Fouti loaded the bases. Fulton then hit a squibber to third that the catcher dropped attempting a force at home plating another run. Floegel then lined out hard to center and he gunned the ball home for a double play. Down to the last 3 outs Aguilera continued his dominance getting the first 2 batters to ground out. After an infield miscue prolonged the inning Aguilera finished strong with a game ending strikeout.

There were 2 sparkling back to back fielding plays of note. In the 5th inning the leadoff batter hit a line drive back thru the mound nearly talking Aguileras head off. He managed to deflect it with his glove. Dave Berardi charged the deflection and made a strong barehanded throw to first in time. This was followed by a line drive under a diving  3rd baseman Charlie Pacillio’s glove which Cam Fuoti backhanded deep in the hole. He fired to first nipping the runner by a step.(reporting by Rich Berardi)
