Summit’s scouting must have seen something about the Cranford secondary because Charlie Terry came out throwing from the start. Boy did he have a great night. Summit took the opening kickoff and started at the Summit 30. After a 15 yard run by Colm Dougherty, Terry completed two passes to his favorite target Andrew Masterfano for a total of 28 yards. Terry completed Passes to Sean Andrews, then to Dan Childers and finally a 16 yd scoring pass to Chris Zanelli. Zanelli drilled the first of his six extra points. This set the tone for the rest of the 1st half. Terry would throw three more TD passes in the first quarter; a 28 yard pass to David Connolly, another 16 yarder to Zanelli, and, finally, a 38 yard pass to Masterfano. It was quite a show.

The second quarter turned more toward the running game. Caleb Sink capped a 65 yard drive with a 1 yd plunge for Summit’s fifth touchdown. The next possession featured a 58 yard touchdown run by Dougherty and the final score of half came when Terry scored on a 6 yard run.

It was an amazing first half. Terry completed 10 of 14 passes for 204 yards and the rushing game produced 210 yards and 3 TDs.

The 2nd half was played with a “running clock” and passed quickly as Summit stayed with the running game with most of the starters watching from the sidelines.
