Summit 14 20 0 15 49
Warren Hills 7 14 7 0 28
You might be tempted to think this was an easy win if you only looked at the score and the stats. However, Warren Hills answered Summit first 3 scores and dominated the 3rd quarter. In that 3rd quarter the Blue Streaks ran 22 plays to Summits five and was down by only 6 points going into the 4th quarter. In fact, they might have held the lead if their first drive of the 3rd quarter hadn’t ended with a 3rd down fumble on Summit’s 4 yard line. This led to a missed field goal attempt.

The 4th quarter started with the score at 34-28 and all the momentum on Warren Hills’ side. Fortunately, Summit mounted a 78 yard, 4 play, drive to regain the monentum. A 30 yd Charlie Terry pass to Andrew Masterfano gave Summit a 1st down at at the WH 48 yard line. A 21 yard pass to Chris Zanelli moved it to the 27 and a run by Colm Dougherty put the ball on the 15. From there, Masterfano scored on a pass from Terry. Terry hit Masterfano for a two point PAT. That restored order, and gave a big lift to the Summit defense that had been struggling to contain WH’s hard running Justin Iaione.

The defense forced Warren Hills to punt on their next possession that gave Summit the ball on their 33 yard line. From there, Summit put the game away with a 9 play drive that featured the running of Zanelli, helped by a 12 yard run by David Connolly. and a 25 yard pass from Terry to Dan Childers.

Summit’s first TD of the game came when a Warren Hills punt was blocked and picked off in the air by Mac Wiesner, who took it 6 yards into end zone untouched. Zanelli kicked the first of his 5 PATs. Dougherty scored the 2nd Summit TD on a 29 yard dash to the end zone. With the score tied 14-14, Terry connected with Masterfano for a 20 yard TD. After Warren Hills re-tied the score at 21-21, a 36 yard Terry to Childers pass again put Summit back in the lead. The final score of the 1st half came when Masterfano scored via a 15 yd run following a Warren Hills fumble.

Terry had a very big game, completing 13 of 17 passes for a season high 227 yards and 2 TDs. Zanelli rushed for 120 yards, his season high, and scored 2 TDs. .
