Summit traveled to Hillside to take on one of the strongest teams in the conference (7-1). In spite of the fact that Summit was significantly out rebounded by Hillside, the Hilltoppers took a comfortable 10 point lead into the 2nd half. Sadly, the 2nd half was a nightmare. Summit managed only 4 field goals in the half and at one point had missed 9 consecutive free throws. That was coupled with myriad turnovers. Summit squandered most of a 14 point lead over the first six minutes of the final quarter. Allowing Hillside to get to within 6 points with 2 minutes left in the game. Fortunately. Wayne Wong broke the free throw jinx, hitting 3 of 4 tries to restore an 8 point Summit lead with only 40 second remaining. Even then we turned the ball over leading to Hillside’s final 2 points. It wasn’t pretty, but is goes in the Win column.
Mac Wiesner (11 points) and Robbie Walsh (10 points) led the scoring
