Summit got off to a terrible start as they missed their first seven shots while Hillside took an 8-0 lead. Wayne Wong’s 5 points helped Summit right the ship a bit and the quarter ended with Hillside ahead 15-9. Summit closed to within 2 points (21-19) at the half as the defense held Hillside to only 6 points. The 3rd quarter was played almost even and Summit reduced the deficit to a single point.
The final quarter opened with Wong draining a 3 pointer , Mac Wiesner scoring a field goal and Matt Fischetti and Kyle Crotty hitting free throws. Suddenly Summit found itself with 5 point lead. A pair of free throws by by Crotty and another FG by Wiesner preserved the lead. Down the final stretch Wong scored on 8 of 10 free throws to seal the comeback victory.Wong had a big night with 21 points. Wiesner posted 14 points. As usual, Robbie Walsh dominated the defense by blocking shots, forcing Hillside players to alter their shots and hauling in 12 rebounds.
