Plainfield ended a 4 year drought by upsetting favored Summit. Plainfield led Summit, 16-14 at the end of the first quarter. Summit rallied, led by Kyla Houston’s 10 points, to lead 32-27 at halftime. Plainfield outscored Summit in the 3rd quarter and closed to within one point (44-43) entering the final 8 minutes. With about 4 minutes left the score was tied at 53. Plainfield drained a three pointer to take a 3 point lead. Summit would get as close as 2 points, but Plainfield hit its free throws down the stretch for the upset victory.
Cassidy O’Malley led the Summit scoring with 17 points. Maddie Gramigna (12 points) and Houston (10 points) were in double digits.
