Through two periods, there were almost more penalties than shots on goal, as both teams could not stay out of the penalty box. During a four minute span in the second period, there were five penalties called, resulting in multiple 4-on-3 power plays for Summit. But neither team could find the back of the net and the game remained scoreless through two periods.

Early in the 3rd period junior Riley Flynn put a shot on Westfield goalie. The shot was stopped, but junior Chris Zanelli was there to put home the rebound for a 1-0 lead. Liam Mclaughim scored 3 minutes later and Corey Mc manus added another late in ther period. Garrett MvGowan had 15 saves

Lakeland had taken a 1-0 lead 1:37 into the second period. Brady Nelson tied the game with a shorthanded goal with 8:11 remaining in the period. Flynn and Corey McManus had assists on the goal. Garrett McGowan made 16 saves in the victory. Summit out shot Lakeland 27-17.

The 2nd period repeated the cycle with Nelson scoring first, with help from Connor McCormick and Joe Jacobello. A minute later Princeton tied game. Chris Zanelli scored twice toward the end of the 2nd period and early in the 3rd period to give Summit a nice 2 goal lead. Liam Mclaughlin and Riley Flynn assisted on the first goal and Mclaughlin and Nelson on the second.

The game was scoreless for the next 8 minutes until Princeton scored on a power play, but Summit still led 4-3 with less than 5 minutse to play. However, 10 seconds later Princeton scored again to sen the game to overtime.

Cummings scored the winner mid way through the overtime period. Corey McManus and Jacobello were credited with the assists. Garrett McGowan stopped 21 shots for Summit.
