It must be tough for Hillside to take the field week by week knowing that there is a likelihood it will be another mercy loss. It is almost embarrassing to play the game. However, it does provide a opportunity a few JV players to see some varsity experience and for everyone to fatten their Stats. Jason Schneider pitched the first 4 innings, giving up no hits and no runs. He was credited with the win. Will Schaffer pitched the 5th inning and struck out the side. So they combined for a no hit shutout.
Note: Early in the 4th inning, with an 18-0 lead, it was obvious that Summit was trying to make outs to spare Hillside further embarrassment. I have not included the final 5 outs in the statistics.
