The game got off to a great start with Summit scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Matt Murdock, Cam Fuoti and Alec Fuoti singled and Will Schaffer doubled to produce the three runs. In the bottom of the 1st Jason Schneider made one of the greatest plays in recent years. With a Nutley runner on first and one out, The batter hit a monster blow to right that had “inside the park home run” written all over it. Schneider made a Willie Mays over the shoulder catch, relayed the ball to C. Fuoti who threw to 1st for a 9-6-3 double play.

A. Fuoti started and pitched the first four innings giving up 3 runs but only 1 earned. Along the way he threw a lot of pitches so that his pitch count was in the 80s starting the bottom of the 5th. C. Fuoti took over at that point. Unfortunately C. Fuoti didn’t have his stuff and before he turned the ball over to Schneider was responsible for six runs. Summit never really threatened again.

Nutley had made the decision to replace their starter in the second inning with their #2 pitcher. He was overpowering. He gave up only 1 hit over the next 5 inning and had the Hilltoppers completely buffaloed.
