Hit batters: Kaneley(1),Miller(1)
Summit hosted Scotch Plains who was fresh off a great win over Cranford. nj.com billed it as the Union County game of the day. They were right through the first six innings. The score was 3-1 after the 6th and both starters had pitched well and the two teams had committed only one error between them. The pitch count for both starters were 80 or less. Cam Fuoti had been very effective and had allowed only one hit and no runs for the last 3 innings. In the 7th Scotch Plains led off with a single and the next batter was safe on Summit’s only error of the game. A wild pitch allowed a run. A strike out followed by sac fly allowed another. With only one out left to end the inning Brian Contillo came on in relief. Sadly, things did not go well, by the time the last out was recorded four more runs had scored.

Summit lone run came in the 5th. Will Schaffer led off with a single, Kyle Kanaley and Hunter Miller were both hit by the pitcher to load the bases. Schaffer scored on the error. That left two on with no outs. Three straight out ended the potential.

Note: Miller hurt his shoulder in yesterday’s game and played as the DH. He had 2 singles and was hit by the pitcher. Charlie Pacilio took over the catching duties and had a good game behind the plate. Kanaley took over at 3rd and made a couple good defensive plays.
