Summit gained its first victory over Union Catholic in five years, and it was a convincing win. Alec Fuoti was the starter and the first 3 innings were very strong. Sadly, the 4th inning didn’t go well. Three walks, a hit batter and a pair of singles ultimately led to 5 runs charged to Fuoti. Brian Cantillo took with one out in the 4th. A single, a sacrifice fly and a fly out brought the inning to an end with Union Catholic leading 6-5. Cantillo pitched the 5th and 6th without allowing a hit and Will Schaffer pitched the 7th allowing a run on two walks and a wild pitch,
Summit started fast with 3 run in te 1st inning. Matt Murdock and Cam Fuoti singled, Alec Fuoti was hit by the pitcher, Charlie Pacilio singled, Hunter Miller hit a sacrifice fly and Schaffer doubled. In the 3rd summit added two more runs when A. Fuoti and Pacilio were walked and moved to 2nd an 3rd on a error. A single by Schaffer drove them both in to build a 5-1 lead, As desribed above, Union Catholic answered with 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th to go ahead 6-5.
Summit retook the lead with 3 runs (1 unearned) in the top of the 5th. Murdock led off with a single, C. Fuoti was on with an error, Pacilio walked and a sacrifice fly by Miller scored one run, another scored on an error and a third run came in on a Schaffer single. Summit’s final two runs came in the 6th. Murdock was walked and C. Fuoti hit a monster inside the park home rum to right center.
