Jason Schneider took the mound against the always strong Westfield squad. He had his stuff and showed he go with serious competition. Over 5 of the first 6 innings he held Westfield scoreless. However, in the 4th inning he was undone by the defensive lapses of his team mates. Westfield managed to score 3 runs (only one earned) while the defense made 3 key error and a passed ball.
Going into the bottom of the 7th the score was tied 3-3. Schneider's pitch count was 74 and he was out to pitch the first complete 7 inning game of the season. Westfield didn’t get any hits, but 2 walks and and a hit batter loaded the bases with 2 outs. Sadly, another walk forced in the winning run. In spite of the ending, it was fine pitching effort.
Summit took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning, Robby Faris was hit by the pitcher as was Hunter Miller. Kyle Brown got on via an error and Alec Fuoti singled. After Westfield took a 3-2 lead in bottom of the 4th Summit tied it up in the 5th inning. A double by Miller and a single by Murdock did the trick.
