Summit vs North Plainfield 9/13/2014 | ||||||||||||||||||
|
Summit opened the season with a convincing victory over North Plainfield. Summit scored on the first possession and never looked back. The drive covered 77 yards in 9 plays and culminated in Andrew Helmer making a great over the shoulder catch of a pass from Peter Mckinley. The drive relied heavily on the running of Chris Zanelli who was a real work horse during the entire game. For the game Zanelli rushed for 230 yard and caught two passes for 40 yards.
Summit scored once in each quarter and the defense kept North Plainfield from making any serious threats. Helmer also scored the 2nd touchdown, this time on a pass from Ryan Richson. Zanelli scored both of the second half touchdowns on long runs and would have scored two more on long runs but they were called back on holding calls away from the play.
Robbie Faris helped stall North Plainfield with two interceptions
Late in the game, Richson was victim of a very late hit and was forced to the bench with an injury. It is likely that he will have to miss a few games.
