Voorhees 7 0 7 6 20
A victory over Voorhees took on additional importance because it carried with it a significant number of playoff Power Points. For the first time this season the Summit’s passing game was the dominant aspect of the Hilltopper offense. Jake Froschauer had a big game, passing for 4 touchdowns and 186 yards, while Peter McKinlay completed 3 of 5 attempts and 1 touchdown. The only touchdown that wasn’t a pass came on a brillant 95 yard return by Chris Zanelli of the 2nd half opening kickoff.

Voorhees’ opening drive was aborted when Zanelli intercepted a pass and returned it to the Voorhees 30 yard line. Two runs by Zanelli gave Summit a first down at 21. A penalty moved the ball back to the 35 and on 3rd down Froschauer connected with Andrew Helmer for the opening TD. Late in the 1st quarter a Summit drive stalled at the Voorhees 21 and Paulo Umana kicked a 39 yard field goal to make the score 9-0. Just before the end of the quarter Voorhees connected on a 70 yard touchdown pass to close the gap and worry the Summit fans.

However, Summit answered by scoring on each of their first three possessions of the 2nd quarter. Three Froschauer TD passes to Drew Mulholland (45 yards), McKinlay (15 yards) and Helmer (65 yards) ended the half with Summit on top 30-7.

Following the Zanelli Kick off return that boosted the lead to 37-7, Summit started wholesale substitution. Spencer Sink, normally a key linebaker, got a chance to run with the ball. Sink keyed a 65 yard drive, gaining 49 yards on 8 carries. The touchdown was scored when McKinlay passed to Vincent Bonomo, one of Summit’s leading tacklers on the defensive side of the ball.

Voorhees would go on to score twice, the last on on the final play of the game.
