New Providence out scored Summit in every quarter. However, the game was still within reach as the deficit was only 6 points entering the final quarter. Sadly, a pair of early three pointers plus hitting 8 of 9 free throws helped New Providence grow the lead to 11 with less that 3 minutes left to play. Summit was also strong from the foul line, 9 of 9, but couldn’t close the gap as New Providence won going away.
Every time Summit tried to get traction they were stymied by another of the eleven New Providence three-pointers. NP’s Matt Romeo seemed to drain every thing he threw up. He ended with six 3's on his way to a game high 29 points.
Summit tried 21 three-pointers and hit only 7 for a low 33% . It wasn’t much better from the field because Summit scored only 10 of 31 (34%) field goal attempts.
Jordan Gonzales led Summit’s scoring with 22 points and Will Schaffer was in double digits with 15 points. Gonzales and Patrick Maloney each had 8 rebounds.
