Summit took on favored Plainfield in the consolation round of the Holiday Tournament and the first quarter started badly. Plainfield jumped to a 17- 7 first quarter. The Hilltopper fans were concerned that it might be another rout like the Ewing game. However, Summit settled down and outscored Plainfield over the final 3 quarters. In fact, Summit closed to within 4 points with a couple of minutes left in the game. A lay up by Wayne Wong was waved off when a charge was called in stead of a block, that would have cut the lead to two. Ultimately Summit lost by 6, but the last 24 minutes of the game showed Summit’s determination.
Wayne Wong and Will Schaffer led the Summit scoring with 10 points each. Patrick Maloney was the leading rebounder with 7.
