Summit got off to a very slow start and allowed Gov. Livingston to score the first 7 points. Summit eventually got 5 points from Christina Richson and 2 points from Cassidy O’Malley to reduce the deficit to 4 points at the end of the quarter. GL expanded their lead to 5 points at the half. The game continued downhill in the 3rd and GL built a 9 point lead midway in the 3rd quarter, and things were looking bleak. Then O’Malley, Richson and Caitin Osmulski sparked a big rally. O’Malley delivered 5 field goals , Richson drained a pair of three pointers and Osmulski hit two field goals. Suddenly, Summit had closed to 38-37 as the quarter ended.
Gov. Livingston out scored Summit 7-3 in the first 4 minutes of the final quarter to regain their 5 point advantage. A basket by Jenny Martino and another by O’Malley made it a one point game again. After neither team was able to score on the next possessions and Summit took time-out with less than 20 seconds to go. GL assumed that the play would be to O’Malley, who had been on a scoring binge, and packed it in on her. Instead, the ball went to Richson who drained a 3 pointer for the win.
O'Malley was the leading scorer with 19 points and Richson close behind with 17 points (5 three pointers)
