Summit closed out the regular season under the lights in Chatham. The game started off well. Going into the bottom of the 4th inning the game was tied 4-4, but then the bottom fell out for Summit. Chatham erupted for 5 run off starter Jason Schneider. In the 5th Chatham brought in a relief pitcher who happened to be a side-arm thrower. Throwing side-arm is rare these days and Summit batters had not seen one in years. He totally mystified Summit’s batters. Over the final 3 2/3 innings the Hilltoppers managed to have only 2 base runners, on a walk and an error.
Summit scored twice in the 2nd inning on a double by Grant Douglas and singles by Tim Colao, Schneider and Matt Moremile. Two more crossed the plate in the 4th. Schneider singled, Moremile walked and Matt Murdock doubled.
