Will Schaffer dominated Roselle Park as he pitched a 5 inning no-hitter. In the first three innings Schaffer had a bit of control issues, allowing 5 walks, but every walk was matched with a strikeout. In fact, Schaffer’s strikeouts were prominent, as all but four Roselle Park outs were strikeouts.
Summit scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning off singles by Grant Douglas, Alex Crane and Tim Colao. Kyle Kanaley got on base via an error, a Matt Murdock double and a sacrifice fly by Andrew Miller. Four more were added in the 3rd. Kanaley walked, Colao singled, Ben Lim , Murdock doubled and Robby Faris singled to make the score 9-0. Summit’s final run resulted from a Crane single, a walk to Colao and another Murdock double.
Schaffer’s 11 strikeouts, added to his previous 21, to give a total of 32 K’s over the 15 total innings he has pitched.
Note:An error was made in the Union catholic stats. Miller had 3 RBIs not the 1 that was reported.
