Union Catholic scored 2 runs in the top of the first inning and was never behind. Both Summit and Union Catholic each scored 8 runs over the next 6 innings but that left Union up 10-8 when the dust settled. Summit out hit UC but the Hilltoppers were playing into a headwind. Over the course of the game Summit gave up 13 walks or hit batters. It is pretty hard to win when you add 13 extra base runners.
Matt Mudock continued to do what a lead off hitter is supposed to do. He drew 2 walks and 2 hits to to add to his team leading On-Base Percentage to .688
Will Schaffer had a double and 2 singles to improve his team leading batting average to .520.
