Summit traveled to Westfield for a quarterfinal game in the Union County Tournament. Westfield is currently considered to be the best baseball team in the county. So Summit needed to have it’s A game. Unfortunately, Summit’s nemesis, walks and hit batters, undermined its efforts. You can not let an extra 11 batters have a free ride on the bases and expect to compete against a team like Westfield. Six of Westfield’s 11 runs were players who had been walked or hit by the pitcher.

The Westfield's pitchers pretty much shut down Summit’s batters. The top of Summit’s batting delivered all of Summit’s five hits. Matt Murdock had a single and a double and Robby Faris delivered 3 singles and one RBI.
