Both Summit and Gov. Livingston struggled through the first quarter with neither gaining any traction. But just before the end of the quarter a bad snap by GL went out the back of the end zone for a safety and resulted in a 2-0 Hilltopper lead. The kickoff after the safety was returned by Matt Murdock to mid field. Three plays gave Summit a first down at the GL 39 yard line. From there Jake Froshauer connected with Matt Newman for a TD. Jack Johnson kicked the first of his four extra points. GL's next possession stalled at their 44 yard line. The GL punt went only 11 yards giving Summit possession at their 45. Two runs by Froshauer resulted in a 1st down at the GL 40. Passes to Matt Newman, Kyle Kanaley and Murdock resulted in a TD. The half ended with Summit on top 16-0, The 2nd half started with GL mounting a drive that started on their 28 and ended on Summit's 37 yard line. On the next play Sam Zanelli ran 53 yards to the GL 10, Three play later Newman scored to make the score 23-0. GL would get its only score of the game on their next possession when they ran 62 yards for touchdown. Summit took advantage of a GL fumble that gave the Hilltoppers the ball at the GL 20 yardline. A pass to Cahill moved the ball to 11, a Flanagan run moved the ball to the 2 and Newman scored on pass. That nade the final score 30-6. |
