Disclaimer: I was unable to be at the game and transcribed the statistics from the Game DVD. The biggest problem was seeing the player’s jersey number. Summit took the opening kickoff and drove 66 yards in 10 plays behind the running of Sam Zanelli and Matt Newman with Jake Froschauer covering the last 12 yards. However, North Plainfield answered with a 7 play drive and the extra point take a 7-6 lead. Summit’s second posession ended with a fumble, but the defense stuffed North Plainfield and Summit started on the Summit 35. The highlight of the scoring drive were a pair of Froschauer Passes to Garrett Cahill that covered a total of 53 yards, with Cahill getting credit for the TD. The quarter ended with Summit back on top 12-7. Summit garnered three more scores in 2nd quarter beginning with Zanelli blocking a N. Plainfield punt and on the next play covering 13 yards for the TD. Sadly, N. Plainfield took the next kickoff and went all the way for a score. Summit’s next TD came after Christian Fusco intercepted a pass. After a sustained drive Michael Flanagan scored. The final score of the half resulted from another blocked N. Plainfield punt. Four plays later Newman scored and the half ended with Summit on top 32-14. Summit’s final score came early in the 4th quarter. After Murdock intercepted a pass at the Summit 20. Froschauer moved it to the Summit 45 and Murdock went 54 yards to the NP 2 and then carried it in for the final score. It is worth noting that six different players scored our 6 touchdowns |
