While Warren Hills had an slight advantage in the statistics it was offset by the Summit defense that intercepted five passes and held off a last minutes 2 point PAT attempt that would have sent the game to overtime. Christian Fusco intercepted three passes and Matt Murdock intercepted twice.

Summit scored first late in the 1st quarter. A weak Warren Hills punt gave Summit the ball at the Hills 33 yardline. A 14 yd Jake Froschauer pass to Matt Newman gave Summit a 1st down at the 18. Runs by Newman and Froschauer moved the ball to the 6 yard line. Three plays later Mike Flanagan scored from the one. The PAT was missed, but Summit was on top 6-0.

The Second quarter was scoreless. Summit took the opening kickoff of the 2nd half and drove to the Warren Hills 22. On 4th and 6 Summit opted for a 39 yard field goal. Jack Johnson’s kick looked good, but hit the cross bar and bounced out. Warren Hill took over on their 20 yard line. They mounted a 13 play drive that culminated in a 33 yard TD pass. The PAT was blocked and left the score tied 6-6.

Summit responded with a 7 play drive to regain the lead. The drive was highlighted by a 12 yard run by Froschauer, an 11 yd pass to Newman and a 68 yard TD reception by Matt Murdock. The PAT run by Flanagan made it a 14-6 game.

Late in the 4th quarter Warren Hills intercepted a Summit pass at the Warren Hills 35. On the first play of the series Summit appeared to have broken up a pass but another Warren Hills got to ball beore it hit the ground and raced 51 yards to the Summit 14. Seven plays later, including an interference call against Summit, they scored on a 4 yard pass. Summit averted going to overtime by breaking up the two point PAT try.

Tragically, following the game, it was learned that Warren Hills senior quarterback Evan Murray died after suffering an injury during the game.
